STOICS OFFICE BLOCK
Design Team: Jaime Correa
This would be the physical epicenter of STOICON, a non-profit organization advocating the application of Stoic values in contemporary life. Stoicism is a Hellenistic philosophy founded in the 3rd century BC, under the poly-chromatic Stoa Poikilein in Athens, by Zeno of Citium; a Stoa is an elongated colonnaded portico surrounded by columns on one side, with a central system of interior columns, and with a wall enclosure on the third side. The plan of the STOICON Office Block follows the traditional Greek Stoa configuration and introduces a new phenomenology of duality between order/diversity, darkness/light, open/closed, sameness/differentiation, autonomous/deliberate, dynamics/statics, and color/indifference. Stoicism promotes the analytical reduction of every concept to its necessary and sufficient conditions in accordance with nature.
