In the downtown area of the Town of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida, this project is a retrofit urban tactic from a parking area to a combination of plazas symbolizing water, sand, and dunes - the typical landscape transect of Florida coastal communities. The project also included the reconstitution of more than four blocks of commercial area - replacement of diagonal parking with parallel parking to increase the amount of pedestrian area.
