CHINESE VILLAGE

Design Team: Jaime Correa

A contemporary morphological exploration of a traditional village in the Guangjong Province of China. 862 housing units are configured within three traditional building types: the single block house (312 units), the bunker tower (6 units), and the apartment building (544 units). The site comprises a total of 23 acres and yields a density of approximately 38 du/ac. This new town provides two spiritual building areas (Taoist and Buddhist) and one secular central space with a tree of knowledge.
